    Parents’ Day

Life for parents these days is like a Lernaean Hydra – work and commitments, and more work and commitments, pop out one after another round the clock, day in day out, draining every bit of their time and energy. At the same time we Holy Familians are all eager to show our parents our hard work at school. That was why the Holy Family invited our parents over on 27 February to catch up on what is happening within the Holy Family. That was our Parents’ Day – a day not just for parents but also for all Holy Familians.

Through individual reception by our teachers, the girls’ needs were addressed to and the girls’ potentials were given full recognition. Understandably, review of the school report with parents and teachers may not be the favourite part of the day for some, but in the process the girls all learnt about strengths and weaknesses in their studies and are better prepared for their future advancements. Those who did well enjoyed their moment of fruition they fully deserved, while those who struggled were offered support and guidance to pick themselves up and move on. Besides meeting our teachers, the parents learn more about the girl’s school life by visiting the exhibition in the School Hall. After all, the Parents’ Day was not a day for judgment or criticism – it was a day for reflection and encouragement.

Home-school cooperation is imperative in nurturing our youngsters and the Parents’ Day proved to be a golden opportunity to strengthen our bond with the parents. By the time our parents left the campus, they could be certain that the girls’ shall become yet better-equipped for the future when they come back again in one year’s time.
